Valley Leadership: Leaders for Literacy Interest Form

Valley Leadership's Early Literacy Impact Maker Team launched Leaders for Literacy, an initiative designed to improve reading proficiency rates among Arizona students. Through this program, Valley Leadership alumni complete substitute certification and are paired with local teachers, providing these educators with the time needed to pursue professional development in the science of reading. This rigorous training equips teachers with the latest research and pedagogical strategies, enabling them to deliver high-quality instruction for years to come.

By facilitating professional learning during contract hours, Valley Leadership ensures teachers can focus on their growth without sacrificing personal time. Meanwhile, having a consistent, trained substitute ensures students experience uninterrupted learning.

Days and times in participating in the Leaders for Literacy will depend on the district you are placed in, however, generally you will substitute one day a month for 4 months. You can choose to renew your participation in the program after each semester.

Substitutes will be compensated via the district's pay schedule.

No experience working with students in this capacity? No problem, training will be provided in advance.
